Ballerina Darcey Bussell and Top Watercolour Artist “draw” on their talents for Alzheimer's Charity

Darcey Bussell, one of the world's best-loved Ballerinas, has joined forces with top watercolour artist Gordon King, to support the Alzheimer's Society. The charity is dear to the hearts of both of them as they have close personal experiences with relatives who have had this debilitating condition.

Gordon has painted a set of three stunning watercolours of Darcey; which she recently unveiled at London's Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. A limited edition of prints - each signed by the artist and the dancer - have been produced and these will be sold over the Internet to raise money for the Society.

The prints will be priced at £225 and £265 and a donation of £50 will go to the Society from the sale of each print. The company Ever English Ltd has been set up to sell the prints and hopes to raise around £200,000 for the charity. Moreover, the company says that if a good enough offer is made over the Internet, they will sell the original paintings.

Gordon King commented: "This has been a wonderful project to work on for me, as ballet is a lovely subject for paintings and Darcey is a thrill to paint. I'm particularly pleased because Darcey was delighted with the paintings right from the start. I sincerely hope that we can raise a lot of money for the Alzheimer's Society through this initiative."

There are three different prints of Darcey, with 1000 copies on offer of each one. Serenade and La Bayadere both cost £265, and In Rehearsal is priced at £225.
